George Michael is happy and content with his life and did not try to commit suicide when he recently fell out of his car.

The 49-year-old singer fell out of his Range Rover while traveling as a passenger at 70mph on a motorway. He was airlifted to hospital with a serious head injury, reported Daily Mirror.

There were reports that Michael, who has battled drugs and depression in the past, may have jumped from the vehicle.

"There is no mystery. He was just trying to shut the door. George has been perfectly happy and is in a great place. To insinuate that he threw himself out of the car is absurd.

"George has been writing a new album and is really pleased with what he's done so far. It was an accident and he is the first person to put his hand up and say, 'I'm sorry'. He deserves more sympathy," a source said.

Michael is currently in hospital under observation for his head injuries.

Police officers investigating the matter have decided to speak to Michael as well as the driver in the car.

The accident is the latest addition to the string of problems for Michael. He canceled a tour of Australia last year due to major anxiety brought on by a 2011 battle with severe pneumonia in Vienna, where he was treated in intensive care for a month.
