German delegation meets Haryana CM

A 20-member German delegation headed by Peter Bleser, Vice Minister for Food and Agriculture, Germany today called on Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here.

Both sides discussed issues related to co-operation in the field of food, agriculture, horticulture, dairy farming, machinery, food safety and post-harvest management.

The Chief Minister appreciated Germany for leading in the field of cold chain, farm mechanisation, food processing, packaging and value addition.

Haryana Agriculture Minister O P Dhankar apprised the delegation that the state is leading in export of basmati rice.

He said the state was focusing on diversification towards horticulture and organic farming with world food safety standards. He further elaborated that Haryana has highest per capita milk production.
 

Peter Bleser explained the strength of Germany in the field of food processing, food safety and consumer protection.

He said India had made tremendous progress in the agriculture sector and has immense potential for secondary agriculture.

Bleser invited a delegation from Haryana to visit Germany during the annual Agro Tech to be held in Hannover in this year to see German technologies and visit various farms of agriculture, horticulture and dairying.

The Chief Minister also invited German delegation to participate in three-day Agriculture Business Summit, to be organized by State Government from March 13 to 15, 2015 at Gurgaon.
