Aiming to introduce German language in school curriculum and to introduce literary texts to students at a beginners level and advanced level, German Ambassador Michael Steiner will be visiting Jammu and Kashmir on April 19.

The two-day visit will give a special focus on German language and training which has been a defining pillar of Indo-German cooperation, a release of German Embassy said here today.

Ahead of his trip Ambassador Steiner said "language and education connect societies. They are the ticket to go global. This is why, together with the Indian government, we foster the programme 'German in 1,000 schools'- an excellent bridge between Germany and India at grassroots level."

On April 19, Steiner will also inaugurate the conference of the Indo-German Teachers Association (InDaF) at the University of Kashmir in Srinagar.

InDaF represents all teachers of German as a foreign language in schools, colleges and private institutes in India, the release said.
