German President Joachim Guack will arrive here tomorrow on a six-day state visit to India during which he will hold talks with the top leadership and discuss ways to enhance bilateral ties.
Briefing reporters on the visit, German Ambassador to India Michael Steiner said Guack will be accompanied by a 80-member delegation, including 15 business leaders, during his India stay which was "the highest ceremonial gesture between the two sides".
The visiting dignitary will meet his counterpart Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The Vice- President, Leader of the Opposition and UPA Chairperson will call on the President.
A Financial-Technical agreement in the field of green corridors of 1 billion euros is set to be signed between the two nations during the visit, the Ambassador said, adding the agreement was discussed and finalised last year in April during Singh's visit to Berlin.
"Germany is India's gateway to largest single market in the world. Cooperation between the two visits is working well. This is an excellent opportunity to look further," he said.
Asked if Guack will be meeting Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, he said, "I read the reports as everybody did in the quality press in India. I do not want to further comment. We are talking about an elected Chief Minister who happens to be the Chief Minister of Delhi."
When asked whether this means that Guack and Kejriwal are not meeting, Steiner said, "I did not say that", and declined to comment further.
