The newly appointed Ambassador of Germany in India Michael Steiner said, one of the secrets of the Germany's surging economy and its robust manufacturing sector is its vocational education and training.
Germany is keen to share its expertise in vocational education and training with India and could offer expertise to institutions here in providing skill based programmes, he said.
Steiner was speaking to Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan at the Raj Bhavan, a release said.
The Ambassador recalled that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had announced an ambitious target of providing skills to 500 million people of India by 2022.
Germany could be a perfect partner of India in providing vocational education, training and skills to the people that will enable them find gainful employment, he said.
Steiner remarked that India can sustain its higher economic growth rate only by attracting and facilitating more foreign direct investment and by skilling its people
