Citizens in north Delhi will now get birth and death certificates issued online as the area's civic body today said the process has been initiated.

Leader of House in North Delhi Municipal Corporation Vijay Prakash Pandey said all birth and death certificates registered after 2003-04 can be obtained online, while asserting the move was a step in the direction of e-governance and 'digital India' vision.

"The process for online issuing of birth and death certificate has been initiated. With the inauguration of this facility, citizen need not run from pillar to post seeking these documents," Pandey was quoted as saying in a NDMC statement.

"QR (quick response) code technique is being used for the online process which allows citizens to obtain the certificates by paying the fixed fees through debit or credit card by visiting mcdonline.Gov.In website," he said.

It would bring transparency in the process and cut out scope for corruption, he added.

In October, East Delhi Municipal Corporation had inaugurated this online facility.

EDMC is also planning to start online services for issuing of health trade licence, factory licence and general trade licence.
