Gujarat Fishermen Association (GFA) has sought Chief Minister Anandiben Patel's intervention in bringing back a fisherman lodged in a Pakistani jail in a critical condition for over a month now.

"We wrote to the Chief Minister on February 29, requesting her to take up the issue of fisherman Bhagabhai Sarman Solanki from Gujarat with authorities concerned in the neighbouring country," senior vice president of GFA Veljibhai Masani said.

Masani said they have also sent a letter to state Fisheries minister Babubhai Bokharia.

He said according to letters sent by Solanki to his family members over the last few months after he was arrested by Pakistan Maritime Security Agency in April last year, he is in a critical condition and needs immediate medical attention.

It was also mentioned in the letters that two of the Gujarati fishermen, lodged in Pakistani prisons, have died in the last three months in absence of medical aid.
