With the aim to spread awareness among Delhiites to follow traffic rules, the Delhi Transport Department today launched "Don't become Ghanchakkar babu" campaign, taking a leaf out of Emraan Hashmi-starrer 'Ghanchakkar'.
The department has also sought permission from the music company to use "Sun ae ghanchakkar babu" song from the movie as radio jingle for the campaign.
"We have launched 'Don't become Ghanchakkar babu' campaign to aware people about road safety. This campaign will focus on various issues - drunk driving, honking, using zebra crossing, slow driving near schools and colleges, wearing seat belts, helmets, etc.," Kuldeep Singh Gangar, Special Commissioner of the Transport Department, said.

"As part of this campaign, we will initiate drive from time-to-time. For instance, we will aware people about zebra crossing and tell them to cross roads using it and 'Don't become Ghanchakkar'," he said.
Gangar added that department has also decided to run this campaign on radio.
"We want to run "Don't become Ghanchakkar babu" campaign on radio as well due to which, we have saught permission from the music company to use the song "Sun ae ghanchakkar babu" from film 'Ghanchakkar' as radio jingle...," he said.
On January 15, the Transport Department has organised a conference on road safety in which drivers of DTC and cluster buses will also be trained as master trainer about safe driving. "After training them, these drivers will also train other drivers about safe driving. In this conference, school students will also be participating," the official added.
