Police here arrested 129 persons for consuming liquor at public places, officials said on Sunday.
Superintendent of Police (City) Manish Mishra told PTI that policemen from eight police stations had checked 664 people to stop the consumption of liquor at public places.
As many as 129 persons were arrested under Section 34 of the Police Act, he added.
He said all station house officers in the city had been instructed to check parks, liquor vends and public places daily.
Action would also be initiated against vend owners if people found consuming liquor near their establishments.
