The owner of the Audi Q7 involved in an accident that claimed four lives last week will appear before the Indirapuram Police to record his statement, police said today.

"A notice under Section 160 of CrPC has been issued to Manish Rawat, a neurosurgeon at Safdarjung Hospital in whose name the SUV is registered, asking him to register his statement at Indirapuram police station," Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar told PTI.

Four people, including a woman, were killed when the Audi rammed an autorickshaw on Hindon Canal Road in Indirapuram on the intervening night of January 21 and 28.

Police are trying to ascertain who was driving the car at the time of the incident.

On January 31, a man, identifying himself as Ishaq Ahmed, had surrendered before a court claiming to be the driver of the car.

Later, Ahmed had told media persons that the man who appeared in the court was an impostor.

He had said he was in Gujarat at the time of the mishap and that police could verify his claim by tracing the location of his mobile phone.

Also, he had reportedly submitted proof to support his claim and told media persons that he would file a case against the doctor for producing an "impostor and misusing his identity in the court".
