Ghaziabad buildings sealed for non-payment of taxes

The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation sealed the premises of a nationalised bank, mall and various other buildings due to the non-payment of house, sewer and water taxes, an official said on Wednesday.

Municipal Commissioner Dinesh Singh said the properties against which hefty arrears were pending were targeted for recovery.

The premises of Bank of Baroda in Kaushambi has been sealed for the non-payment of dues amounting to Rs 12.56 lakh.

Omaxe Mall in Indirapuram was also sealed as its management failed to pay Rs 29 lakh.

Three buildings of DLF, Sahani Towers at Rajendra Nagar and a building in the Rajendra Nagar Industrial Area have also been sealed by the civic body for the non-payment of taxes amounting to Rs 23.87 lakh, the Municipal Commissioner said.

 

Over Rs 1.17 crore were recovered in taxes on Wednesday, the official added.
