The district administration has ordered strict action against those found swimming beyond the 'warning point' in Ganga canal at Muradnagar here.
District Magistrate Minista S had yesterday inspected the bathing place at the canal and instructed the officials to take stringent action against pilgrims and novice swimmers crossing the danger level.
"The DM has ordered the executive engineer of the canal department to fix the metallic chains on the stairs through grafting iron poles in fast flowing water upto a safe distance," district information officer R B Singh said.

Minista also ordered desilting the banks of the canal to facilitate the pilgrims.
She further instructed the deputy superintendent of Sadar area (Muradnagar-Masuri towns) to lodge FIRs against those who flout the norms.
Many people visit the canal, especially in summers, for excursion or to take a holy dip. Many youths had died in the waters of the canal recently after they reportedly breached the danger level.
