Ghaziabad Municipal employees go on strike

Members of Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam Karamchari Sangh today went on a strike to protest the heckling of the Mayor Teluram Kamboj allegedly by Congress leaders and Councillors.

Kamboj and two BJP councillors Mukesh Tyagi and Anil Swami also joined the protest.

"We will not let the functioning of the Municipal Corporation resume till the time people responsible for misbehaving with the Mayor are arrested," President of Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam Karamchari Sangh, Harinder Nagar said.

"If they Mayor is not safe, how can one expect a common man to be safe in the district," he said.

Meanwhile, Kambhoj said the protesters were demanding the arrest of alleged Congress leaders and he extending support to the employee union by "joining their protest today".
 

"Police should take the matter seriously and act swiftly action the accused," he said.

A group of protesters, led by Congress leaders protested during the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation budget meeting yesterday with reaching out to Kambhoj and forcing him to wear bangles.

The protesters alleged that the Mayor had "failed" to perform his duties in the desired manner.
