Frustrated with long power cuts, scores of irate residents today staged a protest at the electricity department office in Pratap Vihar area of the district.

Residents from Kavi nagar, Raj nagar, Pratap Vihar and other parts of the district participated in the demonstration and raised slogans against the Uttar Pradesh Government and its power department.

"There have been acute shortage of electricity supply across the district. Power is only being supplied for five to eight hours every day which has made our lives difficult," alleged a protester and resident, Kusum.

Residents along with BJP's women workers staged protests at the electricity department situated in Pratap Vihar.

"Even when a minor fault is reported in the line, it takes officials around five to six hours to rectify the problem due to which we have to suffer and spend sleepless nights," another protester, Sanjay Singh claimed.

The residents said if power supply is not improved in the coming days they would launch a series of protests against the state government and electricity department across the district.
