Chemicals and textiles company GHCL today reported 56 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 77.80 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2016, on account of lower expenses.
The company had reported a net profit of Rs 49.83 crore for the same period of the previous fiscal.
Total income from operations rose to Rs 650.40 crore in January-March quarter of the 2015-16 fiscal from Rs 641.05 crore in the same quarter of previous year, GHCL said in a BSE filing.

For the full 2015-16 fiscal, the company's consolidated net profit rose to Rs 256.48 crore from Rs 181.90 crore in the previous fiscal.
The consolidated income from operations rose to Rs 2,558.99 crore in 2015-16 from Rs 2,373.61 crore in 2014-15.
GHCL has three business segments -- chemicals, textiles and consumer products.
