Actor and stand up comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi, who recently joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is no longer the Election Commission-appointed 'State Icon'.
"He (Ghuggi) had resigned a day before joining the particular political party," Punjab Chief Electoral Officer V K Singh said today.
"He was a state icon for Punjab," Singh said.

Ghuggi, a popular face, was roped in by the EC three years ago to promote people's participation in electoral process.
He was selected to replace satirist Jaspal Singh Bhatti who died in a road accident in 2012.
As the 'State Icon', Ghuggi was regularly featured in EC advertisements appealing people to register themselves as voters.
"Nothing was paid to Ghuggi for his work as state icon," Singh said.
44-year-old Ghuggi had on February 10, joined the Arvind Kejriwal-led party.
