A giant steel object in the shape of a bulb with a narrow mouth, weighing about 300 kg, was today washed up on the shore at Thangachimadam Vadakadal here, police said.
The police said they did not know about the use of the object, and it looked mysterious to them.
Steps were on to find out what it was, police added.
