Ginger Hotels to open 40 hotels in 3 yrs

Roots Corporation, which operates hotels under Ginger brand today, announced to open 40 more properties in next three years, targeting metro and tier-I cities across the country.

"We are expecting exponential growth in budget hotels segment. We have plans to open 40 more hotels (under Ginger brand) in next three years, taking total strength to 70 properties," Roots Corporation MD & CEO P K Mohankumar said here today.

He said Roots Corporation - a subsidiary of The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) will open new hotels in metro cities as well as tier I cities where the demand for budget hotels was still huge.
 

"We will target all metro cities, including Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and then we will also target those cities where are connected with airports and have railway junctions," he said.

In north India, it will open hotels in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Karnal, Gurgaon among other cities.

"India is future about branded budget hotel. More than 800 million people travel in Indian market and there is a huge demand for branded hotel in budget space," he said.

He said that the company had posted 20 per cent growth year-on-year basis in budget hotel space. "We are growing when other players are recording low revenue because of slowdown," he said.

Ginger Hotels today opened its first hotel at Chandigarh as it entered into agreement for managing the 102-room hotel owned by Hind Inns and Hotels Limited.

With the launch of its new hotel, Ginger now has the largest pan-India presence with 30 hotels across India.

"The city is equipped with highly capable human capital, first-rate infrastructure and access to large domestic and international markets," he said.

Ginger hotels offer rooms with prices starting from Rs 2,199 for single occupancy and Rs 2,699 double occupancy.
