A 19-year-old girl has accused a doctor of raping her when she visited him for treatment last evening in east Delhi's Krishna Nagar area, police said today.
Although police has detained the 44-year-old doctor for questioning, he has not been arrested yet.
"We are investigating the case and once we reach a conclusion, necessary action will be taken," a police officer said.
Quoting the victim's statement, police said she had been visiting the doctor in the past at his private clinic for stomach pain she had been suffering of late.
"Yesterday evening when she reached the clinic with her female friend, the doctor sent the friend to the medical store to buy some medicine and allegedly raped the victim," the officer said.
Following the alleged assault, the victim left the clinic and met her friend who was returning and both of them decided to approach the police.
Statements of the victim and her friend were taken and the doctor was detained for questioning, he said, adding that police was verifying the allegations and investigating the case.
