A youth was allegedly humiliated in full public view by a group of people, who blackened his face and forced him to take a ride on donkey after the girl of their family, with whom he had eloped, accused him of rape.
The incident took place yesterday in Kotwali area of the district, SP Umesh Dutta said, adding that two persons have been arrested in this connection.
"His face was painted black and he was forced to take ride on donkey by the relatives of the girl," Dutta said.
Meanwhile, the police are also investigating charges of rape levelled by the girl, he said.
The 23-year-old had eloped with the girl of his locality on February 26, but the duo had came back after being called by the latter's family members.
