Reena had gone to the fields yesterday in Jamuniha village when the leopard attacked her and dragged her to the forest area, range officer Wasi Iqbal Naqvi said today.
As the villagers rushed to her rescue, the leopard left her and fled to the forest. But by then the girl had died, the range officer said, adding that the body has been sent for post mortem examination.
Meanwhile the locals staged a protest against the forest department staff.
In 2012, three persons, including two children, were killed in animal attacks, while seven others were injured in man-animal conflict in this area. While in 2011, four persons were killed and 11 were injured in similar incidents.
