A BA first year student who was returning home was attacked by a stalker at Santragachi in Howrah district, police said today.
The girl was stalked by Dharmendra Gupta.
When she was returning home last night, the girl was accosted by Gupta near the Santragachi press quarters, the police said.
Gupta told the girl to marry her, but she flatly refused his proposal. Gupta then attacked her girl. The cries of the girl brought the local people to the spot but Gupta fled seeing the local people.
The girl has been admitted to Howrah hospital, the police added.
