An 18 year-old girl student allegedly commited suicide by hanging herself inside the hostel of Srinivas Institute of Technology at Valachil near here today, police said.
The stdent A C Suchethana was a first yearengineering student at the institute.
The girl, who had gone to her house in Chikkamagaluru on May 27, came back to the college hostel this morning and took the extreme step in the afternoon using a shawl, police said.
She had finished her first year examination and had failed in the computer science subject. A suicide note was found in the hostel room, police said.
Mangaluru Rural police have registered a case and investigation is on.
