The three-storeyed residential building in Piplawali Pol, a colony in Sarangpur area of the city, has collapsed, additional chief fire officer, Ahmedabad, Rajesh Bhatt, said.
A lady teacher and six of her students were trapped under the debris, he said.
She was giving private tuitions to the girls in the ill-fated structure when the mishap occurred.
Following the rescue efforts by fire department and local people, the six injured were rushed to the V S hospital.
Another girl, who was rushed to the L G Hospital here, succumbed to injuries, Bhatt said.
The teacher, who herself tried to save the girls, sustained fracture in her leg while five other girls suffered minor injuries.
