Diksha Sharma, who was hospitalised on Sunday, was diagnosed with pneumonia and was in medicine ward of the hospital. In view of her deteriorating condition, doctors attending to the patient recommended her shifting to ICU but she died yesterday as hospital staff allegedly delayed giving her a bed citing procedural formalities, her family claimed.
Gayatri, aunt of the deceased girl who works as a clerk in the same hospital, said that she pleaded with Superintendent Dr. LC Sharma to shift the girl to the ICU but he told them that he would sanction a bed only after receiving a word from the attending doctor.
In the meantime, the girl died, she said.
Infuriated over the hospital's apathy, relatives and family members of the girl protested in the hospital yesterday.
Sharma was out of the hospital at that time and when he returned, he faced protests from the relatives.
Family members of the girl have also given a complaint to the police demanding inquiry into the matter.
