A 23-year-old girl died while four of her friends were grievously injured when their speeding car rammed into a road divider before crashing against a tempo parked on the road in East Delhi's Pandav area.
The deceased was identified as Shalini Rana, a native of Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh and had come to Delhi after finishing her graduation.
She along with her friends, Puja Tomar (23), Priya (22) and Puja Pathak (22), who got injured in the incident took coaching classes for bank examinations in the city and stayed as paying guest in Laxmi Nagar area.

The preliminary investigations have revealed that the driver of the speeding Honda Civic lost control. The car was smashed badly and police had to use gas cutters to take out the victims from the car.
"The incident took place at around 9.30 pm last night when all of them were returning home in Honda Civic car, which was driven by Ajay. After crossing Mayur Vihar phase II red signal, the car went out of control and hit the divider (near Commonwealth Games Village). It then rolled over and hit the rear of a tempo parked on the road," a senior police officer said, adding that the collision was so powerful that the entire left side portion of the car was completely damaged.
The victims were rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) hospital where Shalini succumbed to her injuries during the treatment, while others were later referred to Max hospital in IP Extension where Puja Tomar is stated to be in a critical condition.
"We have found liquor bottles from the car, but still we are not sure whether the driver and car occupants were in an inebriated condition at the time of incident. We have not yet received their medical reports," the officer said.
A case under relevant sections has been registered at the Pandav Nagar police station and further probe in the case is on.
