An 11 years old girl died of snake-bite at Mahsola village of Arni tehsil in the Yavatmal district yesterday.

Nayana Sanjay Gangathade, the victim, was bitten by a snake in the kitchen of her house when she had returned to eat lunch during the school recess.

Villagers alleged that the medical officer posted at the Primary Health Centre in the village was not available when the girl was taken there.

She was declared dead on arrival at the Rural Hospital.

ZP member Pravin Shinde said he had forwarded the complaint against the medical officer to the District Health Officer Dr K Z Rathod who assured of taking action after an inquiry.

Rathod also visited the village to pacify the protesting locals.
