Girl falls inside borewell; rescued

An 18-year-old girl was rescued safely after she fell into a 30-feet deep borewell in an agricultural field here, police said today.

G Raji, who works as a daily wage labourer, accidentally slipped into the open borewell at a vegetable field located on outskirts of the city yesterday, Prakashnagar police station sub-inspector S Sivaganesh said.

"The girl had fallen into a 30-feet borewell as she did not notice it. Passersby, on hearing her cries informed the police," he said.

The officer said they had sought help from fire personnel and a fire fighting team was pressed into service along with police.
 

Later, Raji was safely rescued, he said, adding, they are ascertaining if it was an accident or she fell due to some negligence.
