A junior college student who was five months pregnant was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Majjiguda area in the Munchangiput police station limits in the Agency area of the district today.
Police said that Vanthala Balamma (18), native of Nandimetta, was in love with K Satyanarayana, resident of Munchangiput. However Satyanarayana's parents opposed their plan to marry, saying he was already married.
When the girl's parents learnt that she was pregnant, they took her to Satyanarayana's house and said she was now his wife and must stay with him.
On Saturday night she left the house; her body was spotted in the water at a local tank.
Police suspect it to be a case of suicide, but are awaiting autopsy report.
