A 16-year-old girl today allegedly hanged herself in women's police station here, a day after her parents refused to take her home as she had eloped with her boyfriend.
According to Superintendent of Police (City), Sripati Misra, the girl had fled from her home in Rajgarh village of Machchlishahr area with her friend on June 3.
Yesterday, she was found at bus station, the SP said.
When we informed her family members about the girl they said that they had nothing to do with her and she was kept at the 'mahila thana' where she hanged herself with her a scarf today, he said.
Senior police officials have rushed to the spot and further probe was on.
