Alert Army personnel today rescued an 18-year-old girl who had jumped into a river allegedly to kill herself along the border in Pragwal area here.
"Today, in the day, a girl from Pragwal village jumped into the Chenab river, purportedly after some argument with her family," defense spokesman Lt Col Manish Mehta said.
He said that the incident was noticed by the local Army unit personnel, who immediately organised the rescue.

"Two personnel from the Army unit jumped into the river and saved the girl," he said.
Col Mehta said that the girl was immediately administered first aid by the nursing assistant of the Army unit.
She was later handed over to her parents. The parents and local villagers appreciated the efforts of the Indian Army, he said.
