Girl kidnapped by lover to extort money from parents

A student of Barrackpore Rashtraguru Surendranath College here on the outskirts of Kolkata, Karishma Jaiswal was rescued from Bandel railway station in Hooghly district from tghe clutches of hardened criminal Aftab Ansari at Bandel station.

The girl had gone to Rishi Bankim College at nearby Naihati to appear for an examination on the day she went missing from, police said.

Soon after her abduction, a ransom demand of Rs one crore was made by a person who identified himself as Sultan. The amount was later brought down to Rs eight lakh through negotiation, the police said.

Following this, her parents filed a missing report at Ghola police station the next day.

 

The Barrackpore police then formed four teams to trace the missing girl and this morning one of the teams found her at Bandel station, they said.

During interrogation, the police came to know that her lover of two years, Bipin Prasad Gupta, had staged the kidnapping aided by Sultan to extort money from her parents in order to get married to her.
