The boundary wall between Khurda railway station, 25 km from here, and adjoining Kudiary village collapsed when the girl was on way to school accompanied by her father, GRP officials said.
She was rushed to a local government hospital where she was declared brought dead.
Her father and three others sustained serious injuries and were being treated at a private hospital here, the officials said.
Protesting the incident, over 500 irate locals stormed into the station and staged 'rail roko' demanding Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia to the victim.
Railway traffic on the busy Howrah-Chennai route was affected as slogan shouting agitators squatted on the tracks, preventing movement of trains.
Other trains, including Mangalore-Santragachi Vivek Express, Secundarabad-Howrah Faluknama Express, Puri- Santragachi passenger and Talcher-Puri passenger trains, also got stranded at the station, officials said.
