An eight-year-old girl was today killed after she was run over by a speeding pick-up van at Panched village near here, a police official said.
"The victim, identified as Khushi Gayri, was run over by a pick-up van, which belongs to the village sarpanch," Gopal Jaat, Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Sanjeev Mule said.
After the incident, irate villagers blocked the road by placing her body and demanded immediate arrest of the vehicle owner, police said.
"When the villagers did not relent and the situation turned serious, additional police force was called from Ratlam and Sailana, following which the blockade was lifted, the officer said.
The driver of the van was later arrested, Mule said adding that a case has been registered in this regard.
