A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified man who accompanied her mother to her school here, police said today.
The victim filed a complaint last night against her mother and the unknown man in connection with the offence, they said.
As per the complaint, the girl's mother along with the man visited the private school at Uttan in Bhayander here two months back on the pretext of meeting her daughter studying there, Assistant Police Inspector Priyatama Muthe said.

Later, the man threatened the girl with dire consequences and left the place along with her mother, the ASP said.
Based on the girl's complaint, police registered offences against her mother and the unidentified person under sections 376 (rape), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) read with 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, she said.
The name of the victim's mother was withheld by the police for security reasons.
According to police, the girl's mother does not have a permanent residence and she keeps moving from one place to another while the victim lives with some relatives in Bhayander.
A search has been launched to nab the accused duo, Muthe added.
