Girl tries to kill self after failing in Madhyamik exam

A teenaged girl of Salbani area in Midnapore West district today tried to commit suicide after failing to pass the Madhyamik examination conducted by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education for class X for two consecutive years.

Police said the girl hailing from Chaktarini village set herself on fire after returning home from school knowing that she failed in two subjects in the Madhyamik examination, the result of which was declared earlier in the day.

She has failed last year too in the examination.

The girl was first taken to Salbani block PHC and later shifted to Midnapore Medical College Hospital as her condition deteriorated, police said.
