Girls outshone boys in High School examinations held by the Uttar Pradesh Board for Secondary Education, results of which were announced here today.
The overall pass percentage stood at 86.63 wherein the success rate of girls was 91.25 per cent while that of boys was 82.87 per cent, the Board's Director Vasudev Yadav told reporters.
The overall pass percentage this year was 2.88 per cent higher than the previous year.

Altogether 33.32 lakh candidates had appeared for the High School exams this year out of which 28.86 lakh secured pass marks.
Answer scripts were examined at 172 evaluation centres set up across various districts of the state, Yadav added.
Significantly, the top two scorers Ashutosh Mishra and Aradhana Shukla who respectively scored 97.33 per cent and 97 per cent, hail from Barabanki and studied at different schools in that district.
In terms of overall performance of students, Maharajganj district stood at the top with a pass percentage of 94.79 while Pilibhit (70.95 per cent) was at the bottom.
