Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said the Kurukshetra Mahotsav-Gita Jayanti Samaroh would be celebrated in a bigger scale next year.
The Chief Minister was speaking as chief guest in the inauguration function of Bhagwan Jagannath Rath Yatra here. Earlier, he inaugurated the District Level Gita Jayanti Samaroh at Karnal.
The Chief Minister said 'Gita' is the essence of life and it gives message of public service without any self interest.

He said that Gita Jayanti is being celebrated in all 21 districts of the state and in a similar manner Bhagwan Jagannath Rath Yatra is being carried out in Ludhiana.
Khattar said that political leaders should also work selflessly without expecting anything in return and should take inspiration from lessons of the Gita.
He said that values are important in education as merely getting a degree would not be enough. In this direction, the Haryana government has incorporated shalokas of the Gita in school syllabus, he said.
He said that he, as a Pracharak of the RSS, had visited Punjab before but as Chief Minister this was first visit.
The Chief Minister participated in the 'aarti' of Bhagwan Jagannath and broke a coconut to flag off the Rath Yatra.
On this occasion, Gopal Krishan Maharaj of ISKCON Kurukshetra expressed his gratitude towards the Chief Minister for his announcement of setting up ISKCON temple in Jyotisar of Kurukshetra.
Also, he appreciated the decision of the state government to celebrate Gita Jayanti in all districts of Haryana and said that if Gita Jayanti is celebrated throughout the country then it would be a unique message for human welfare.
