The Punjab government today issued directions to all heads of government departments, Commissioners of Divisions and Deputy Commissioners to give "due respect" to MLAs and ministers.

Punjab's General Administration Department said the Privilege Committee of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha had brought to the notice of the state government that MLAs had complained that they were not given "due respect" and "regard" by government officers whenever they visit any government office, according to an official release.

The Committee noted that any officer not giving "due regard" to MLAs would be guilty of breach of privilege of Punjab Vidhan Sabha, the release said.
