A day after the JMM protested the Raghubar Das government's decision to give pension to eligible people who participated in the Jayprakash Narayan movement, the '74 Chetana Manch today said participants of both Jharkhand and JP movements should get pension.

"Both Jharkhand and JP movement agitators should get pension. There were many tribal and moolwasi (permanent residents) people who participated in both Jharkhand and JP movements," Manch president Pramod Mishra said in a statement here.

Mishra, however, said those who had participated in both the movements should be eligible for pension in only one of the movements, "according to their choice".

The JP movement had been an important event in the country's history and nine states are giving pension to the participants, claimed Mishra.

The '74 Chetana Manch was floated to remember JP legacy.

JMM working president Hemant Soren yesterday protested the government decision and said it hurt the feelings of Jharkhand agitators.

The former chief minister also argued that Jharkhand movement was bigger than JP movement and that equating both was not justified.
