CPI leader D Raja has asked Home Minister Rajnath Singh to intervene and provide adequate medical treatment to ailing Dr G N Saibaba and Kobad Ghandy, both of whom are in jail on charges of aiding the Maoists.
In a letter to Singh, Raja has said the health of Saibaba, a professor in Delhi University who is 90 per cent disabled and lodged in the 'Anda Cell' in the Nagpur central jail, has "suffered an irretrievable breakdown".
He said the prison authorities "have to immediately arrange for proper medical treatment, including surgery, as advised by the Rockland Hospital, New Delhi" to Saibaba, who was granted bail by the Supreme Court to undergo medical treatment earlier also.
