A team appointed by Lt Governor Najeeb Jung has found glaring irregularities in the functioning of two health care centres run by New Delhi Municipal Council.

In its letter issued to NDMC yesterday, the team comprising District Magistrate Deepak Shinde, Additional District Magistrate and Sub-Divisional Magistrate has pulled up the civic body on various issues including cleanliness and "unsatisfactory" quality of immunisation services.

On the direction of the Lt Governor's Office, the team of officials was sent to NDMC Health Centre and MCW Centre, both located at Babar Road for inspection two days back and prepared a report on the same.

"Cleanliness inside the premises was not up to the mark. Medical officers were not present," the letter said regarding both the centres, adding, "pharmacy counter of Allopathic dispensary in NDMC Health Centre was closed and the store keeper was busy talking to some guest".

"Quality of immunisation services was found unsatisfactory. Also, the fire exit was closed," the letter noted.

The team's report also mentioned that the record keeping of "consumption register" in NDMC Health Centre was updated only till May 9.

Secretary, NDMC, Nikhil Kumar has shot off a letter to its Health Department to probe the shortcomings mentioned in the report and prepare an Action Taken Report (ATR) in this connection.
