Tracking a firm global trend, gold prices edged higher by Rs 23 to Rs 26,261 per ten grams in futures trade today as speculators created fresh bets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in October month moved up by Rs 23, or 0.09 per cent, to Rs 26,261 per ten grams in business turnover of 4,942 lots.

Likewise, the yellow metal for delivery in far-month December edged up by Rs 20, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 26,455 per ten gram in 563 lots.
