Global cues, spot demand lift copper futures by 0.50%

Taking positive cues from global market and rising spot demand at the domestic markets, copper prices were higher by 0.50 per cent to Rs 451.85 per kg in futures trading today as speculators raised their bets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in far-month February next year contracts spurted by Rs 2.25, or 0.50 per cent to Rs 451.85 per kg in business turnover of 3 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in November contracts traded higher by Rs 2.10, or 0.47 per cent to Rs 447.10 per kg in three lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in copper futures trade to a firm global trend.
 

Moreover, pick up in demand at the domestic markets form consuming industries, too supported the upside, they said.
