Amid positive global cues and pick up demand at domestic spot market, nickel prices advanced by 0.13 per cent to Rs 942.10 per kg in futures market today as participants raised bets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in September moved up by Rs 1.20, or 0.13 per cent, to Rs 942.10 per kg in business turnover of 41 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in current month August edged up by 90 paise, or 0.10 per cent, to Rs 937.60 per kg in 1,096 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by traders on the back of a firm trend in base metals overseas, kept nickel prices higher at futures trade.

Besides, upsurge in demand from alloy-makers in the spot markets too fuelled the uptrend, they said.
