The 2016 Global Peace Song Awards (GPSA) today announced the launch of global musical contest on the occasion of UN International Day of Peace to encourage musicians and video-makers.

"Today's UN International Day of Peace, marks the historic opening of a global call to musicians and music video makers to submit their most inspired and empowering works towards the message of world peace in any language," Grammy winner Ricky Kej told PTI here.

The GPSA is the brainchild of Founder and DEO of Project Peace on Earth (PPOE) Steve Robertson and Kej, who won Grammy for best New Age Album in 2014.

Steve founded PPOE for the global promotion and attainment of world peace through globally telecast concerts of sacred music from sacred sites, Kej said.

"The 2016 Global Peace Song Awards serves as a search for our world's most enlightened musicians and songs that can guide the way to peace on earth. There are no age, location or language limits. We encourage everyone to enter. We want to hear the hearts of our planet's great musicians call for peace," Robertson said.

There would be ten song categories such as new age, rock, pop and folk and a music video category, Kej said.

The jury includes worldclass panel of members Ralp Simon, Jive Records, Jonathan Elias, who is known for his movie trailers (Gandhi, Blade Runner) and others, he said.

Public Voting will select 11 grand prize winners, one per each category, and a Facebook most popular liked song or video will be awarded, he added.

The submission of the song begins today and closes on January 24, 2016. The prize winners will be announced on May 5 next year, Kej said.
