Chip manufacturing company Globalfoundries has appointed former Motorola chief Sanjay Jha as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Jha would succeed Ajit Manocha, who served as an advisor to the company's shareholders prior to being appointed CEO of the firm.

Jha has served as CEO of Motorola Mobility Inc and as the COO of Qualcomm Inc.

Manocha would return to his prior role of being an advisor and will work closely with Jha on his transition, the company said in a statement.

The company plans to continue upgrade of facilities in Singapore and Germany, which serve multiple customers across a spectrum of technologies.

"I look forward to working closely with Ajit during the transition and with a very talented global team to continue to make our customers successful," Jha said.
