Glorious era has come to end: MP CM on Raza's demise

Describing internationally-acclaimed artist S H Raza as a "pride of Madhya Pradesh", Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said with his demise a glorious era has come to an end.

Raza (94), who popularised Indian concepts and iconography and built a towering legacy of modern art, passed away in Delhi today after a prolonged illness.

In a series of tweets, Chouhan expressed grief over Raza's demise.

"With the sad demise of legendary painter Padma Shri SH Raza, a glorious era has come to end. An irreparable loss to fraternity of artists," Chouhan tweeted.

"Raza was great pride of MP. He will always remain alive in our hearts & continue to inspire budding artists all over the world," he said.
 

"Through internationally acclaimed art, Raza spread fragrance of our culture in every part of globe. May the soul rest in peace," he said in another tweet.

Raza was born in 1922 in Babaria in Mandala district of Madhya Pradesh and as per his wishes, the last rites will be conducted in the district.
