GMC authorities should provide quality services to people: Min

The Government Medical College (GMC) authorities should provide quality and hassle-free services to the people in its associated hospitals, Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Medical Education Taj Mohi-ud-Din said today.

"The GMC authorities should provide quality and hassle-free services to the people for which the authorities should augment all materials and human resources," he said while reviewing the functioning of GMC, Jammu and its associate hospitals at a meeting here.

He directed the Principal of the GMC to ensure that all diagnostic equipment like MRI, USG, X-Ray, CT Scan remain functional round-the-clock for convenience of patients. The minister asked the GMC authorities to chalk out effective strategies to provide enhanced and timely services.
 

He also laid stress on filling up of vacancies of Professors, Associate/Assistant Professors, Lecturers, Registrars, Surgeons, Assistant Surgeons and paramedics immediately so that the patient care at GMC does not suffer.

The minister underlined the need to start evening OPDs and strengthen the Emergency Ward in order to provide additional facility to the ailing people.

Earlier, the minister conducted on-spot inspection of Emergency and other blocks.

He directed the GMC Medical Superintendent to deploy adequate number of security staff in the hospital to safeguard doctors and paramedical staff.
