Goa Mining People's Front, a body of mining dependent people of the state, has urged Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar to reinstate environment clearances immediately so that closed mines can resume operations.
Mining in Goa is closed for more over two years now even as the Supreme Court lifted the ban in April last year and the state revoked closure order imposed in September 2012.
Mining can be resumed after reinstatement of environment clearances, put in abeyance by the Ministry of Environment and Forest on September 14, 2012.
